Study our 2 rare and historic Books of Hours inscribed and signed by Anne Boleyn. ‘Hours’ were personal prayer books popular in England from the 13th century until the reformation. Marvel at the restoration work undertaken by William Waldorf Astor in the early 1900’s including the luxurious panelling and carving he had created in many of the rooms.

The warm and welcoming atmosphere of this historic house will give you a day to remember. The Yew Maze and the Adventure Playground are children’s’ favourites. The unique ‘Splashing Water Maze’ on Sixteen Acre Island challenges adults and children alike to reach the central folly whilst avoiding various water barriers. Jousting and archery demonstrations form part of a number of special events, which take place in the grounds. Picnic in a picturesque spot or take a leisurely lunch at one of two licensed restaurants or browse in the gift shop, garden shop or bookshop.

Dover Castle

Spend a full day out at Dover Castle and see one of the tallest remaining Roman structures in Europe - the Roman 'Pharos' or lighthouse, take the audio tour of the Battlement Walk, explore Henry II's mighty Keep, Discover the maze of medieval tunnels, visit the Princess of Wales' Royal Regiment museum or have a picnic on Admiralty Lookout with its views of the White Cliffs of Dover and across the Channel to France.

Leeds Castle

Leeds Castle is one of the most romantic and awe-inspiring castles in the country. Set in 500 acres of tranquil and picturesque parkland, it provides an enchanting place to visit throughout the year.

Some of the fine gardens of Leeds castle include the formal Culpeper garden - a fine example of an English country cottage garden - and the terraces and intimate suntraps of the Mediterranean-style Lady Bailie Garden. The Castle has its own Aviary with over 100 species of rare and endangered birds.

Another unique transaction is the Dog Collar Museum exhibiting the world's finest public collection dating back 400 years. Not to be missed is the intriguing Yew Maze, popular with youngsters of all ages. By solving its puzzle, the reward is the discovery of a secret 'underworld' grotto. Youngsters can also enjoy the Turf Maze and new toddlers' play area, giving parents a well-earned rest.

Leeds castle has its own vineyard, which produces bottles of award-winning white wine available to buy in the Castle Shops, which also stock a wide range of souvenirs and quality gifts. Equally impressive are the estate's 13 show greenhouses filled with beautiful flowers and plants, some of which are on sale at the Plant Centre.

There is also a 9-hole pay and play Golf Course with some very challenging fairways. Light refreshments are available in the Wykeham Martin Tea Room, while more substantial snacks and meals are provided in the 17th century Fairfax Hall and the adjoining Terrace with its stunning views of the castle.
