The Britannia Inn at Dungeness is one of South Kent’s busiest
Pub/Restaurants. Located between the two lighthouses and near the
Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Steam Railway, The Britannia Inn includes
a large amount of land ranging from grass, scrubland and shingle to
a huge concrete car park. In excess of 60 cars and several coaches
are able to park here.
With it’s open fire, the front section of the warm and cosy
bar restaurant is the most popular in colder weather
In total The Britannia can accommodate over 100 diners at a time,
60 of them in the extensive bar restaurant areas where smoking is
permitted.
There are two separate connecting doors between the bar and conservatory
restaurants.
There are thriving pool and darts teams at The Britannia, and a large
area of the bar is set aside for these games.
Although smoking is permitted throughout the bar restaurant, because
there are two powerful Honeywell air cleaners the air remains fresh
and almost smokeless.
The conservatory restaurant seats 40 diners and is the most popular
restaurant during the daytime because all eight glass front doors
can be slid back to open up the whole restaurant to the sea air.
The Britannia is most famous for it’s fresh fish and chips so
the conservatory restaurant is themed with hanging fishing nets and
other similar paraphernalia.
Serving up to 400 meals per day in the summer the Britannia has a
large and modern kitchen with a dozen electric fryers, ten microwave
ovens, a six hob cooker and oven, a plate warmer and more.
The Britannia Inn also offers two twin B&B rooms with their own
separate living room / TV room / Breakfast lounge, and a bathroom
with a shower.
